Q: Cannot add faces

I am using Yosemite version 10.10.5 and am unable to add faces using Photos. I had no problems doing that until I tried to do it last night. The last time I tried to do it on April 25, 2016, I was successful. Has a bug cropped up? When I click on information and go to add a face, the circle pops up as it is supposed to do and I  can insert a name, but when I click return to add the face, I am taken to the editing screen instead, and the face is not added. Can someone tell me please what I can do to add a face? (I have tried rebooting, several times.). Thanks.

Just type the name into name field below the circle. You do not have to hit return. Just doubt click the enlarged photo to go back to the browser.

The Return key is the shortcut for opening the editor.

Thanks for responding. As you suggested, I do type the name in the field below the circle, and it appears below the photo. However, my problem is that when I go to the collection of "Faces," the face I just named has NOT added. Until a few months ago, I was able to add faces to the "Faces" collection but all of a sudden I cannot do this any more. I wonder if it's because of a new bug. I tried rebooting and that didn't help. Do you have any other ideas for me to check out? Thanks again.

Is that still the case, if you do not hit return?

I never had this problem while I had been using OS X 10.10.5.

Make a test, if this only happens in your current photos library.

Create a new Photos Library for testing and try to add a few faces.  If it works in a new library, repair your current library.

    • To create a new library launch Photos while holding down the options key ⌥ and select to create a new library.
    • To repair your current library launch Photos while holding down the key combination ⌥⌘ and double click the library you want to repair.

I followed your advice and made a test of another photo and I was able to add it to "Faces" with no problem!!! There must be something "amiss" with the three photos I added to my library (they were from a text) but were unable to add to "Faces." Overall, I think things with Photos are fine now. I just won't try to add the new faces and let it go at that. Thanks for suggesting a test. I feel better about the system now. There must be something in the data that came in to Photos when I imported them from the text message. Thank you very much for your help.
