Q: icloud photo albums

If I delete a photo album in icloud will it also be deleted in the photos app on my mac book?

Yes on all devices using iCloud Photo Library

 

the entire and only purpose of ICPL is to sync libraries so every change (additions, deletion or edit) you make on any device is made on all devices  --  on devices with limited storage you use optimized photos on that device

 

If you do not want that then you need to stop using ICPL as that is what it does
