Jun 12, 2016 6:03 PM in response to Patrick Weisserby romad,Probably another Jony Ive design! Apple needs to restrict him to hardware; that is his forte.

Jun 12, 2016 6:22 PM in response to romadby Patrick Weisser,Yes Jony has indeed given us some amazing hardware designs over the years and I applaud and thank him for that. But I agree UI design is just not his thing. Aesthetics aside, Apple UI design is just not as usable as it once was. They've gone against their own time-tested and superbly usable Human Interface Guidelines.

Good to see you again . . .
We've been traveling in different forums, I think.
This particular font is only readable in bold. My responses are now in bold, thanks to many great helpers in here.
But when reading a thread, all the Jive/Apple stuff is in that very trendy and horrible slender font.
I'm trying to figure out how to fix that. When I do, I'll post it here.
It's an abomination.

I don't know how to code so it still won't help me. Now if someone could write an patch that we non-techies could just install into any version of Mac OS to fix the poor design, they'd make a mint!
You don't need to know how to code. I haven't coded since I was doing machine language with 0s and 1s. I didn't think I could do it, either, but I managed it, and it really does help. No, it should not be up to each individual user to fix this, but, at this point, it is.
BTW, that is another problem with this new version of the forums: they removed the location that was under your avatar.
If you click on the user name or avatar, a popup box will give you the person's location (unless they have chosen to keep it private).

Yes, I' so grateful to you guys who have posted alternative FIXES here.
Isn't it ludricous that we have to go outside of the Apple culturie to fix this?
AND, isn't it tremendous that we have such experienced posters here, such as yourself, who can help us climb out of this quagmire?
Thanks so much, rcc.

Jun 13, 2016 4:43 PM in response to Patrick Weisserby Ziatron,>> And it also seems like all the color is being drained out of the chrome everywhere. What is so wrong with a little color in the chrome to celebrate us having color vision as humans? <<
No kidding. In our organization we do movie editing. So we have several Macs solely dedicated to that purpose running OS 10.9.5, (the last Mac OS that runs iMovie HD 06 with no fuss).
What a joy it is to use this older version of the OS, the colors and text make everything faster and easier to use. Until El Capitan came out there were some utilities that would bring the color back to the OS, but Apple has locked down more of the OS to make it harder for the hackers.
Hopefully, Apple may move away from the drab minimalistic appearance or at least offer users customizable options.
You will not get an answer, but I know for a fact all feedback is read by Apple people. Please be nice when writing.

Jun 14, 2016 11:58 AM in response to rccharlesby Patrick Weisser,Thanks Charles, if only the website developers here had your good taste and common sense in choosing a readable font. It's amazing we have to compensate for their poor decisions here as users. After watching WWDC 2016 online yesterday, I fear Apple is going further down the rabbit hole of trendy but very unusable UI design. Among the big announcements for iOS 10 - Emojis on steroids, but no dark mode to help usability. Siri in MacOS, but no custom user settings for the chrome colors in the next MacOS release. The lack of user choice in how the OS looks - even something as basic as color for the chrome - was ok in the Steve Jobs days because Steve had awesomely good taste and an emphasis on usability and tools for the professional user who has real work to do. Now sadly it's all drab gray chrome combined with, "Hello Kitty" content and, "no you can't touch that!" user preferences. I'm posting in bold for those stuck with the default font here.
