Q: running older programs on OS X
I have Access software golf games that I would like to run on my new computer which has come equipped with OS X which is basically a Unix based OS,
or so I have read.
Would this be possible?

I'm not sure why you would really want to do this as most of the games that Access made are as much as 15 years old. There are numerous golf games that would greatly out perform these old games in the Apple App Store.
However, back to your question, you can use Boot Camp to install Windows on your machine and the old games may or may not run properly since they were PC based games. You might want to do some searching on the internet to see if they will run under this scenario.
You can read about Boot Camp for installing Windows here
