Jun 14, 2016 3:43 PM in response to SRScoby win77,Thank you for this: I don't know if it was coincidence or not, but doing this step actually solved the problem for me...and this was after a half hour of prowling the web and then 45 minutes on the phone with Apple support person who did NOT know what he was doing and was reading instruction manuals over the phone to me. I have to say, this is one reason I long ago gave up on buying apple care. I've purchased a macbook pro recently, along with an ipad pro and just got an apple watch and none with purchased extra apple care....waaay too many calls to apple support where the people knew less about the devices than I do. Thank you for posting this and glad it solved it for me.

Jun 22, 2016 2:17 PM in response to dsXCBVzxcbzfdbby MelindaChristian,My son's iPod touch kept requiring to be activated EVERY TIME it came on and each time I tried to activate it I kept getting the could not reach Apple Server error message. It worked a few times when I would connect it to iTunes using my computer, but that eventually stopped working. So literally EVERY TIME my son wanted to use his iPod I went through **** trying to figure out why it wouldn't work. WELL..... After reading everyone's responses I was able to figure out that it was a combination of things:
He had changed the date and time - so I corrected it (Apparently it's a "cheat" that allows you to get more money or extra lives in some games. SMH I used it as an opportunity to show him that cheating at things just causes more problems in the long run!)
I reset his Apple password
I turned off his ipod
When I turned it back on I was able to complete the activation process and enter the new password and, knock on wood.....ALL IS WORKING so far!
SO....THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!!!!

Jul 13, 2016 3:42 AM in response to dsXCBVzxcbzfdbby Wingnut999,I found that restoring all settings worked for me, followed by restarting the device. First you could try restarting network settings if you did not want to do a full restart.

Jul 15, 2016 8:47 AM in response to vwintsby gwhisenant,My problem was my VPN. It was constantly trying to connect and interfering without even showing an error. Once I disabled the VPN (put it in manual mode instead of automatic, and then turned it off) everything worked fine.Hope this helps someone!

Jul 26, 2016 5:52 PM in response to dsXCBVzxcbzfdbby Reb92,Mlake sure your cellular settings allow your clock to update if you are connected to wifi. All this time and that's what the problem was for me.

Jul 30, 2016 6:00 PM in response to SRScoby Chantellhaw,Yes, I thought of this too, but to sign out of my Apple ID, I would have to input my password and that's were the problem is. It tells me that there was an error connecting to the Apple ID server.

Aug 5, 2016 1:59 PM in response to dsXCBVzxcbzfdbby stavsuk,I think I may have found a fix - I have an iPod Touch so couldn't connect via 3G/4G cellular network. I got my iPhone and set up a hotspot and connected my iPod Touch to that. It seems to work and after it disabled the Find My iPhone on the iPod Touch, it then allowed me to sign out, and then sign back in. I had actually also changed my password on iCloud but I don't think this made a difference. Interestingly the clock on the iPod Touch up until I had connected to my iPhone was saying 01:00 and when I connected it via the personal hotspot, it updated to the correct time of day. I had just updated to IOS 9.3.4 but to be honest, I don't think I'd touched the iPod for several months. I had tried everything, soft reset, erasing all setttings (although couldn't do the full reset as it wanted me to enter icloud password and wouldn't accept it, even though I could login on icloud no problems). Hope this helps you - let me know if you want to know details of any of the steps!

Aug 10, 2016 6:30 AM in response to dsXCBVzxcbzfdbby mikealano,Try to check if you are connected to your wifi or to your cellular data. I tried restoring mine and I had this error pop up constantly.... only to realize after 10 minutes that I was not connected to the internet.
