Q: wrong power connector supplied

Just received my thunderbolt display and macbook pro but a bit perplexed to find that the laptop power connector  that comes out the back of the display unit is for a macbook not a macbook pro (see picture below from webpage) - confused.

Am I missing something? I don't remember when putting my order together that I had to specify anything.......Do I need to by an adaptor?

Well, that MagSafe connector was used by old MacBooks, MacBooks Pro and MacBooks Air, but Apple released MagSafe 2 later and recent Macs no longer have that connector. However, you can get the MagSafe to MagSafe2 adapter to use that port, supposing that you have got a MacBook Pro with Retina display.

So that's weird you would have thought they would send me a thunderbolt display that wasn't an old design with a brand new macbook pro!  Luckily I do have retina display.  I guess I'll buy the adapter - how annoying!!!!

The Thunderbolt Display was released before MagSafe 2. That's the reason why you have to get the adapter, although it could be annoying.
