Q: Weird glitch: replying to texts from lock screen words cut off.

There is a weird glitch.

When I reply to a text on the lock screen using voice dictation, after tapping "done" the window for the text shrinks so that I can't see the whole text.

In other words, it's a two line window even if my text has more than two lines. If I try to edit it, I can't tap and change words because they're not displaying.

This is what it looks like:

Before (while I'm talking)

After (when I hit "done")

How can I fix this?

iPhone 6, iOS 9, This was happening in iOS8, too.

    Hello DrDj68,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with not being able to see all the text after using Voice Dictation.  I know how important it is to be able to see everything before tapping Send.

The first thing I would recommend would be to force quit the messages app:  Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the issue continues after restarting the App, then shutting off and restarting the iPhone would be the next step: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the issue is still occurring after the restart, we need to isolate the problem into either a hardware issue or a software issue.  To do this, you are going to want to restore the iPhone as new.  Since this will erase all the content on the iPhone be sure to create a backup first. Backup instructions can be found here: How to back up your devices using iCloud or iTunes.

Once you have a backup, restore the iPhone as new using iTunes, following these steps: Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support.  Be sure to Set up your device as a new device rather than restore the device from the backup.  Once the iPhone is restored as new, test and see if the issue remains.  If it does, then the best option would be to have the iPhone checked out by the Genius Bar at an Apple Store or by an Apple Authorized Service Provider.  You can find the closest one by looking here:  Find Locations.

If the problem is no longer occurring, then go ahead and restore the backup using those same instructions: How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups.  Be sure to use the Restore your device instructions.

If the problem starts again, this would indicate that there is something being loaded from the backup that is causing the issue.  If that happens, you would need to set up as new again, and then install the apps that you need back onto the phone.

    Have a great day!
