Q: Spam from Apple

How to stop this, please? -- my recent spam is mostly from Apple:

This is just today's and it's been coming in for weeks, 100s and 100s. SpamSieve does the sorting.

iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, Late 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

Click on your name, then Preferences.

Set the email preferences as you'd prefer.

Go to each of the areas you don't want to receive email from and click the Following button at the top right corner; if you're running ad-blocking software, you may need to temporarily disable it.

If desired, you can instead click here and turn off the email notifications completely.

Those that came from Apple Support Communities are there because you have subscribed when you post in the forum like this one and the reply from me.

Check your forum preferences and also use the follow button to unsubscribe if you are not interested anymore on that topic/posts.

Thanks, but Click on my name where? Surely not in the Menu Bar, and if somewhere in Mail, then where?

Of course it's not all Apple messages I want to stop, just the spammy stuff as above.

The messages come from the Apple Support Community, so click on your name in the Apple Support Communities.

You click on your name in the upper left corner on any page while at ASC.

The first thing you'll see is a pop up (like this one, but it'll be yours with your name) - go to manage subscriptions and/or anything else personal you want to check/change:

Thanks for that, babowa -- good of you to include the screenshot with additional detail.

However despite all the help above, I don't see anything that allows me to "manage" stuff that might help or "use a follow button" or "unsubscribe" and the gear wheels, when present, don't help either.

    Past experience tells me I'm missing something . . . .

first, click on the Preferences on your name popup and see what email notifications you've subscribed to (and unsubscribe).

next, click on My Subscriptions and click on any community you've subscribed to. You should wind up with a window like this:

    Screen Shot 2016-06-15 at 11.08.33 PM.png

As you can see, I subscribe to the Macbook Pro community. On yours, click on the "following" which will unsubscribe you. I subscribe to several communities, but I do not get any emails because I have those disabled. Do this with every community in your subscriptions.

And third, any time you post, you are automatically subscribed to that thread - click on following and you will be unsubscribed.

Lastly, you can also click on My subscriptions > manage subscriptions > Communities and unfollow any/all.

All of this is available after you click on your name via the pop up and/or your profile page.

Check your account's preferences page and change the email settings so that you no longer get emails for following content. You can set the other options to suit your taste.

    EmailSwitches.png

If you want to continue to receive some emails see your places to unsubscribe from any communities and your following content to unsubscribe from individual threads. You can use the gear icons to unfollow items.

I can see you're not following any places, but there are nearly 40 active threads, some of which you may no longer be interested in. If you're getting notifications for threads that you are not following and/or you've turned off all email preferences then perhaps something else is amiss.

Thanks tt2 and thanks again babowa. It's been great to have so much help, much appreciated.

Perhaps the problem is fixed but I'm doubtful because it seems to have come from nowhere and has been going on only these last few weeks. Your last sentence above, tt2, may apply.

So I'll trash all the Apple spam and see if more comes. Another puzzling behaviour with Mail is that some items are going to Junk and Trash, both of which used to be empty. Think I need to have Apple look at this.
