Q: family sharing

I signed into my sons mac under his account and into iCloud under his account.  I tried to send an iMessage from his computer and it still came from my phone number.  Is there a way for him just to use his iCloud account for texting and FaceTime?

    Hello Kevin,

I know it's nice to be able to properly manage how you send and receive iMessages and FaceTime calls. I'll be happy to provide you with some resources to assist with this.

    For Messages on the Mac:

    1. Open Messages
    2. In the menu bar open Messages > Preferences > Accounts
    3. Click on the Apple ID on the left
    4. At the bottom of the Settings tab change "Start new conversations from" from the phone number to the email address
    5. Uncheck the phone number under "You can be reached for Messages at"

    For FaceTime:

    1. Open FaceTime
    2. In the menu bar open FaceTime > Preferences > Settings
    3. Again change the "Start new calls from" from the phone number to the email address
    4. Uncheck the phone number under "You can be reached for FaceTime at"

This will disassociate your phone number with the FaceTime and Messages apps on the Mac.

    Cheers!
