Thanks for asking for help here in the Apple Communities. You first want to ensure all your personal data on the Mac is safe by making a backup. This article will help you make a backup to an external hard drive. Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac.
Once your personal data is safe, we want to update the Mac OS to the current version, 10.11.5. If the issues continue after that, you will want to check this article to help resolve your issues with the freezing. OS X: When your computer spontaneously restarts or displays "Your computer restarted because of a problem.".
This article is large, but very detailed. There are steps to isolate this issue from internal software or data on the computer, external devices connected to the computer, or internal hardware.

Please post the results of your EtreCheck report. It's a diagnostics tool developed by a trusted and respected contributor here, and it will allow us to see what is installed on your hard drive in the way of applications, drivers, plugins, extensions, etc. No sensitive information is included in the report, such as names, e-mail addresses, or serial numbers.
