Boot into the Recovery Drive by holding down Command R when restarting.
First using Safari, login to Manage my ID to verify your Apple ID password.
Add password
In the menu bar, select Utilities -> Terminal. Type resetpassword in the Terminal and press Enter.
1 Select your main hard drive.
2 In the dropdown box under "Select the user account" make sure to select your username.
3 Enter a new password for this user. Reenter to verify. Add hint (optional) Save
4 Quit the Reset Password application.
5 Quit the Terminal.
Under the Apple in the Menu bar, select Restart.
