Q: gps not working properly after iOS 9.3 update

Hi all.

After updating to iOS 9.3 my GPS cannot find my exact location. It keeps telling me I am in a big area, (Triangulating) seems like it does not activate the GPS.

Sometimes very little it works and give me the correct position, but 97% of the time its not working. Anyone else with the same problem?

Besides that: A hot phone & bad WIFI

Should we do the repair by ourself.

My phone is out of warranty. But I worry if I fix this bymyself, if there's a recall for this batch of iphone, then I won't be able to participate anymore.

I really believe that the software upgrade was causing som hardware failure or software incompability for some batch of iphone.

I had the experience before with iphone 5 bulging battery problem, where eventually apple provide recall and free replacement for the affected units.

Already tried replacing that small Wifi and GPS piece on the top right, GPS still doesn't work.

Would it happen to be the Antennae Signal Flex Ribbon Cable that needs to be replaced?

OK gave up on Genius Bar and decided to replace the wifi antenna connector myself. Simple 30 minutes with instructions from ifixit.com and parts/tools from Amazon. Tried it out today and seems to be working perfectly again. Will update if that changes. I feel like going back to the Genius Bar w the old part and throwing it at their feet and saying "fixed it myself, learn."

SSame problem and after 4 appointments, out of warranty glass replacement. Senior advisor coded phone to be replaced.  Apple is aware of the problem but refuse to take ownership.

I have an iPhone 6 (128GB) purchased about a year and a half ago. It's out of warranty. I'm running the latest version of iOS (9.3.2). Several days ago, the GPS services stopped working. Any mapping apps or detailed location services are no longer functional.

I went to a local Apple Store, and the Genius indicated that I was not the first person he's encountered with this problem, but that Apple does not currently recognize it as a known issue. He told me it was a hardware issue, and that there was nothing he could do except offer to sell me a replacement phone for about $300. He suggested writing to Apple at apple.com/feedback

Unsatisfied, I tried calling Apple support. The service person had me reset network settings and double-check multiple configurations in the OS settings. Nothing. He left me with three options:

1 - In the Apple Maps app, click "report an issue" and an Apple engineer should follow up. Perhaps it is a problem they are working on.

2 - Backup the phone and then perform a full restore

    3 - Buy a replacement phone

I reported the issue via Apple Feedback, and in the Apple Maps app, and I will try the software restore (although from what I'm reading, and what I was told during my visit to the Apple Store, it appears to be a hardware issue.)

This is truly disappointing as this is a core functionality of a very expensive device. I did not purchase AppleCare Plus because I carefully avoid damage and am willing to risk replacing a broken screen if need be. But I expect Apple to step up and own premature hardware failures.

Some screenshots from my phone showing the inaccuracy using Waze and Apple Maps. Apple Maps had me about a half mile off course.

I have the same problem. Took all the steps to restore/fix myself. Talked to Genius Bar employees (who were condescending and rude, of course, and asked me if my phone had been "submerged in water for extended amounts of time?" because that's the oNLY WAY this would happen according to them). Fixing it myself is not an option. I'm going to my carrier this weekend to see what they'll do. I'm definitely not under warranty, but I need location services for my job. This is frustrating and inconvenient, and it's probably going to take someone getting hurt because location screwed them over for Apple to admit this is an actual problem.

Also, we all paid quite a bit of money for these phones and of course Apple refuses to fix it.

The trick to having the phone replaced is having several conversations with the level 2 advisors  and having them to code your phone for a one time out of warranty repair. Apple is aware the gps is being killed by a previous update to the phone and the battery has taken a hit with it also.

I'm experiencing the same issue like everyone else. Have an iPhone 6 and the GPS stopped working earlier this week. Tried all the suggestions listed in this thread and nothing has fixed it. Went to the Apple store today and all their hardware testing showed everything was fine. This is a bunch of crap.

Hello SSK, I am having this issue. Curious how you get to a level 2 advisor. Could you please provide detail how you spoke to these reps. Thanks!

Yep, I am yet another iPhone 6 user who has had his GPS and wifi hosed by the software update.  I have tried the soft and hard restarts. I have tried resetting all my settings.  And I have tried erasing my phone and seeing if it worked without restoring.  No luck.

You must report it to apple support a few times.. if you tell the apple support ppl you have been through all the troubleshooting they will get you to a senior advisor..
