Q: New Guy Again.

Just Hooked up my Airport Time Capsule with Apple Support, Not too Savy here with Network stuff, So hang tough, and use the KISS method for me if you don't mind.

Hooked up Airport Time capsule to Comcast Modem as Per Apple Support on Phone Support. I am not in the Bridge mode I know that "I Think", anyway, I thought i would get better WIFI out in the Garage probably 75' away, No Dice, I can't get any WIFI in my Garage, no Bricks, but Stucco walls. Airport is in Back Bedroom up hi and sorta in the Open. Is there a SIMPLE way for me to get WIFI in the Garage??? If i move out 20' to the Front Yard, Bingo, However, My iPhone will  immediately go to my Neighbors WIFI, Same service as Me "Exactly". Some 75' Away also. So I manually have to Pick MY WIFI and it will Hold the Sig, However, if I move to the Garage it Disappears. What is the Easiest / Best / Most cost effective "Reliable" way to get the Signal to the Garage. I'am ALL Ears?  Thanks to all whom Reply. Ken.

Let's start by getting the make & model of your Comcast-provided modem. Then which exact version of the Time Capsule do you have? Finally, will the connection between the modem and the Time Capsule be a wired or wireless one for extending the wireless network?

No problem, we can assist you with making the best choices for your networking configuration to maximize over Wi-Fi performance.

FWIW. Your Comcast-provided "modem" is actually a combination modem and wireless router. These are also known as wireless gateway devices.

Since the gateway and the Time Capsule (TC) are from different manufacturers you will not be able to extend the gateway with the TC with a wireless connection between them ... so it will have to be a wired one. If the distance between them is under 328' (100m) you should be good. If running an Ethernet cable is not desirable or practical, another option is to employ power line adapters. These adapters create a pseudo Ethernet connection using your home's electrical circuit. The are two disadvantages of using these and those are: 1) They must be used on the same electrical circuit, and 2) Their overall bandwidth (max. speed possible) will be lower than using Ethernet cabling.

To extend the gateway's Wi-Fi network, we will want to configure both devices for a roaming type network. With this type of network, each device will broadcast its own Wi-Fi network, but since they will use the same network name and wireless security type & password, wireless network clients will see them as "one" network.

Take a look at the weblink that I provided to get an idea on what it will take to set up this type of network. The good news is that you should not have to make any configuration changes to the Comcast gateway, only to the TC ... and most of those can be done automatically through the use of the AirPort Utility.

If you're willing to give it a try, we can provide more detailed step-by-step instructions, as the material in the link is a bit out-dated.
