Q: Unable to reset NVAM El Capitan
I have followed the directions from Apple Support (see below). But I never hear a second chime. I have tried the old way too, holding the keys down before hearing the first chime. Both ways put me into the OS Utilities screen. Am I doing something wrong?
Resetting NVRAM
- Shut down your Mac.
- Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R.
- Turn on your Mac.
- Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys immediately after you hear the startup sound.
- Hold these keys until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for a second time.
- Release the keys.
