Q: Problem Creating an Event in Final cut Pro

Hi,

I'm running Final Cut Pro 10.2.3.

I created a new library, but when I imported my clips, then went into a folder called "Smart Collections".

This folder has never appeared before.

When I tried creating a new event, the clips stayed in the Smart Collections folder.

I could not instruct the program to duplicate the clips in the new event.

What is going on?

I deleted the new library and started again.

I deleted the new library, restarted Final Cut Pro.

The problem persisted.

Please help.

Guy

When you create a library an event is created as well as smart collections comported medua goes into the event and may also go into smart collections. You can't have a library without an event that holds in media. Maybe you can post a screenshot of what's appearing in your browser.

Sorry for the delayed response Tom.

I discovered that an update in the program had shifted the location where one could enter information about an event. So that problem is solved, however, I am confused about the function of the Smart Collections.  Is this something I need to pay attention to when I am starting a new project, or can I just delete the folde and carry on?

    Thanks

No need to delete or pay special attention to it unless you require the features therein.

    From the manual:

Think of Smart Collections of a way to organise/filter clips within an Event.
