Reset: hold down the Home and Power buttons until you see the Apple logo (10-20 seconds).
If this doesn't help, you might need to Restore your iPhone, which you cando over Wi-Fi, after making an iCloud backup.

Jun 19, 2016 5:14 AM in response to mcman53by mdesignffm,try to restore your ipad to the existing backup on your computer first (i hope you allowed itunes to make one in the past).
then try to do the software update again. best is to do it through the computer and sync it to your ipad.
