Q: Maps-Red/blue/green transit choice?

I opened Apple Maps on my Mac, put in my end location and chose Transit.  One leg of each of the three possible routes it presents me shows LIRR (Long Island Railroad).  But in one choice, LIRR (both the word and that leg of the route) shows in Blue, in one choice LIRR shows in Green, and in one choice LIRR shows in Red.  Can anyone explain what those colors indicate?  I thought the the Red might have meant that that route wasn't running today (Sunday), but I changed the date to a weekday, and it still shows in Red.  But I can't find any more info within Maps to explain the reason for the color.  Thanks!

I'm going to take a stab at your question and say the colors are just to distinguish one from another.

Good guess but that's not it. I looked at a different destination, and it gave me 3 options, all in green. So my guess is that the green means that that LIRR line is running, but there's something wrong with the others.  Still, I'd like to find some more info as to why on my original destination, it showed one route in red and another in blue in addition to the  green.  My hunch is that the red isn't running any more (in which case, why do they should it at all), and I haven't a clue about the blue. I'll keep looking, or maybe someone will still come up with the correct answer.  Thanks!

I did find an LIRR map that shows different lines in different colors.  But so far, I can't quite connect those to these choices.  Bottom line, maybe you were on the right track.  Shame that there isn't a legend or explanation within Maps under Help.  Oh well, not that critical.  Thanks.

Your answer would have made sense, but it doesn't seem to be correct.  But thanks anyway. It's helpful to know that there is a service status shown.

Nope. That is it. The colours correspond to the lines. It just so happens that sometimes the different lines run on the same tracks. If you pay around with dropping pins and changing the start location, you can see the colours change and even predict which line colour you will see. Here is the RIRR map with colours for reference: http://web.mta.info/lirr/Timetable/lirrmap.htm

    I'm a good guesser.

OK although I still don't understand how three different routes to the same location from the same location would have used three different LIRR lines to get there, but I'll let it go.  The main thing I was seeking anyway was simply to know whether it was possible that the line shown in red wasn't running whereas the one shown in green was.  But all things considered, maybe I'll just drive!
