Q: All incoming calls fail when I choose "Accept" on the notification

I'm able to make outgoing FaceTime calls from my mac (both voice only and video) but all my incoming calls fail.

When I receive a call I do get the popup notification dialog showing who is calling with "Accept" and "Decline" options. When I choose the "Accept" option it will NOT answer the call and my iPhone continues to ring. I continue clicking on "Accept" but it will never answer the call and I get a "call failed" status after about 4 attempts to choose "Accept" (and the call is not answered and stops ringing on my iPhone).

I've verified my FaceTime and Notification settings as suggested by Linc Davis (Re: FaceTime on iPhone & Macbook Pro) and firewall is off.

I'm using a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2011) with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 and 16 GB memory running OS X El Capitan (10.11.2).

Please take the iPhone offline by turning it off or putting it in airplane mode. Any difference?

No difference. With the iPhone offline (or in airplane mode) the call goes straight to voice mail and doesn't show up on mac. Turning the phone back on and the problem continues as before.

Please call yourself from the phone. Can you answer on the Mac? If not, see below.

Please launch the Console application in any one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages

from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

              View ▹ Show Log List

from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take an action that isn't working the way you expect. Select any lines that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

Some private information, such as your name or email address, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

When you post the log extract, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

If you have an account on Pastebin, please don't select Private from the Paste Exposure menu on the page, because then no one but you will be able to see it.

I think I found the problem by looking at the console information you suggested. I noticed "acvpnagent" was involved. It was showing:

    ...

acvpnagent[53]: A new network interface has been detected.

acvpnagent[53]: Function: logInterfaces File: ../../vpn/AgentUtilities/Routing/InterfaceRouteMonitorCommon.cpp Line: 477 IP Address Interface List:...

acvpnagent[53]: Function: netInterfaceNoticeCategoryHandler File: ../../vpn/Agent/MainThread.cpp Line: 7695 Network Interface change detected, refreshing physical MAC addresses

acvpnagent[53]: Function: getInterfaces File: ../../vpn/Common/Utility/NetInterface_unix.cpp Line: 1330 missing PPP destination address for interface "utun0".  Check profile PPPExclusion (set to Automatic?) or contact your administrator.

    ...

My mac is setup to split my network traffic between airport and ethernet. I use the ethernet for all work traffic; ehternet is attached to a dedicated VPN router. All my other non-work/personal traffic uses airport. I accomplished this by adding a route entry via:

sudo route add -net 10.xx.x.0 10.xxx.1.73 -netmask 255.255.255.0

I flushed the route (via: sudo route -n flush) and am now able to answer ("Accept") calls on my mac.

Next, I changed the route netmask to 255.255.0.0 (was 255.255.255.0)).

I'm now able to answer the calls on my mac and still route my work traffic over ethernet and non-work traffic over airport.

Please let me know if you see anything wrong with this setup and/or need any additional information (i.e. the console messages).

I see nothing wrong with it if it works for you.
