Q: 5.2.3 rendering error, URGENT!

I have a very weird problem. My Motion suddenly started rendering all my projects with some pixelation/screen tearing, pls see link for example https://vimeo.com/171377567.

Can anybody help?

I have tried deleting preferences, caches, clean reinstallation. It happened from one minute to another, without any changes being done to the system.

This is very urgent, as I have work deadline very soon

Motion 5, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

I do not see the problems in the sample clip you posted.  Perhaps help me out by specifying exactly what I'm supposed to be noticing in that clip.

I see occasional flashes of scattered "noise" that looks like JPEG artifacts. If your original image is a JPG, try converting it to PNG or TIFF (easily done with Preview). If that doesn't work, I'd recommend exporting a standard video size (either HD or SD), then trimming the sides off in a second project using the baked video.

Updated. The first didnt illustrate the problem properly. Have updated with this video:

    https://vimeo.com/171529813

The effect is on all sources: Video, PNG-images and text-generators.

    Faulty hardware, VRAM maybe?

The distortion is on video tracks, png images and text-generators.

    Kind regards

    Hello fox_m

The image was a PNG unfortunately.

I uploaded this other video to illustrate

    https://vimeo.com/171529813

As you can see, the distortion is on all sources (video, png and txt-generator)

    Kind regards.

If you're wondering about your graphics card/vram, you need to tell us what those are along with the version of Motion you're using and the OS version as well. Motion and FCPX updates follow OS updates fairly closely. As an example, one of the last major updates that followed OSX updates was for a core graphics package called Metal (about the same time 3D text was introduced.) If you're still running Mountain Lion and have upgraded to Motion 5.2.+ I might suspect something along those lines. Also, since Motion 5.2, the minimum recommended VRAM is 1 GB, although most of Motion might still run without incident (some of it's features might be... ignored... sort of.)

    looks terrible!

I would bet on some GPU issue, indeed.

What Mac you're using? Or, no  Mac at all?

And you're not on macOS 10.8.5, as your specs tell??

    Hey Karsten

Yeah, dont know why it says 10.8.5. I'm on 10.11.5

I'm pretty sure it's hardware related, as the problem is affecting all my old projects as well, and it started mid-work, with no correlation to an update or anything.

But Final Cut & After Effects is working perfectly, so I hoped that maybe I could tell Motion to process differently or something.

But I probably have to ask my boss for a new Mac or a change of hardware somehow.

    Thx for your time.

    Kind regards
