Q: Could Not Connect To Apple TV

As the title says...'Could Not Connect To Apple TV'

Its the latest 4th Gen and i just all of a sudden today get this message. No changes made to anything. Airplay works fine on my 3rd Gen upstairs. Switch to 'Living Room' and cannot connect. Been working fine for months and months.

Tried restarting everything. All is up to date. Disabled Firewall...(don't see why that makes a diff when it has been working fine) Nothing happens..Same message...

Am i going to have to do a reset here?? Or is it something else.

Any help appreciated many thanks,

Mac.

So thanks Apple. No explanation or warning as to why this happened or happens anywhere!!

So if it happens to you. Spend a day ..Restore Router Back To Factory Reset, Restore Apple TV to Factory Reset. Format your Macbook Air and Restore to Factory Reset! Sigh!!! But you will be able to Airplay again..

What an absolute pain!! If this problem reoccurs I think I will just find a hole and crawl into it..

Apple aren't responsible for your network environment.

No they are not...But they are responsible for the updates they put out and compatibility between devices..for it to all stop working after updates is not my network problem is it. Something went wrong in the update?...You were the one that suggested my network!! I reset all of the concerned devices to factory settings...even though I had never changed any of the settings in the first place!! I don't mess about with things like that and always do as Apple 'recommend' in their settings!!

I spend good money and expect better at times. But thanks for your input anyway!

If something went wrong with the update it is a result of something to do with your environment, there is nothing wrong with the update (in that respect), I and millions of others have had no problems, if your environment causes the update process to go wrong for some reason that's the fault of your environment not the update.

Why was everything other device in my environment working ok if my environment was rubbish? Millions of others have had problems as well as millions of others that have not!! Haha...Sigh..

My suggestion about an update going wrong had a ? at the end..I don't know what went wrong which is why i posted here. I am not an expert which is why i posted here...Your previous copy and pasted suggestion although helpful to someone never worked for me btw..

When Apple make these devices of course things will go wrong!! No it is not their fault if my environment is rubbish as you say....My environment has been great and all my apple devices have been flawless..Something went wrong somewhere did it not!! and all of a sudden....So as I made no changes to my already flawless environment I would have thought that MAYBE an automatic update went wrong somewhere or maybe something was not compatible in an update? 'question mark'

I could not find any suggestion in their support about any such error..So i thanked them for that!! I don't need any comments on that.

Again why i posted here to ask some experts..Anyway I would have hoped that Apple being what they are in the world and the cost of their devices have all things covered..EVERY ASPECT across devices with troubleshooting etc etc..and sufficient support when things do go wrong! Its 95% there..I love Apple and have done for a long time.. Maybe i am expecting too much!

Again thanks for your input although i fear their will be more :-)

I think you miss the point. I'm not doing this to defend Apple, there are plenty of real issues with the Apple TV such as slide shows not working and siri not working when you enable zoom, however Airplay not connecting is not one of them. The point I'm trying to make is that blaming Apple implies that you think Apple should supply a fix, but there won't be a fix, so unless you start looking in the right area, this may never be resolved for you.
