Q: Issue with 9.3.2 iPhone SE bluetooth

Hi

I have an iPhone SE which I am having problems with after I disconnect it from my car bluetooth; it connects and functions properly but once I disconnect (leave the car) there is no sound (does not ring/no sounds for notifications/keypad etc). In order to fix it I have to restart the phone. I also had the issue with my 6S so I think it may be firmware related (9.3.2). If I don't receive or make a call when I am connected to bluetooth I don't have the problem; it's only when I have connected and use the phone.

I have tried a clean install on both phones but it doesn't help.

Thanks

Tim

    Hi Tim,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand that once you've disconnected bluetooth from your car's stereo, you're not hearing any sounds on your iPhone. I connect my iPhone to my car's stereo all the time, so I know how important it is we get this resolved.

As a test to isolate this issue, I would recommend turning off Bluetooth the next time you leave the car, and then see if you're able to hear sound for phone calls and notifications. It's possible that the car is still trying to maintain a Bluetooth connection with the iPhone.

Use Set up and use third-party Bluetooth accessories and check your Bluetooth connection to see if it is still paired to your car's stereo, specifically, this section:

    Check your Bluetooth connection

To see if a Bluetooth accessory is connected to your device, look for the Bluetooth icon   in the status bar of your device. If you see   (white), Bluetooth is on and a device is connected to your iOS device. If you see   (gray), Bluetooth is on but no device is connected. If you don't see a Bluetooth icon in the status bar, Bluetooth hasn't been paired with any devices.

You can also see which Bluetooth accessories are paired with your device, and whether they’re connected. Tap Settings > Bluetooth, and look under My Devices.

For additional information, I would also suggest referring to the Bluetooth section of your car/stereo owner's manual.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

Thanks for the response but unfortunately switching off the bluetooth does not work; I have to reboot the phone to get sound back. It doesn't seem to be related to the SE as I am using my 6S and it still has the same problem.
