Q: iPod won't turn on after charging

I Have just brought a brand new iPod touch 6th generation after my last one broke. I took it home and used it for a while until it ran out of battery, after this I did not charge it or use it for about a week and then after this time I put it on charge for 2 hours and then went to go turn it on, however it didn't turn on. I have tried soft resetting it and my computer doesn't recognise it. This is the exact same thing that broke my last iPod however I would like to try and fix this one as it is brand new before I take it back. Can anyone help?
