Q: Lost iPod Touch 4 gen?

So yesterday at summer school, I had put my iPod touch 4 gen, into a pocket in my backpack, and left it there until it was time to go to lunch. When it was time for lunch, I had unzipped the pocket grabbed my lunch, and left it there for the remainder of the day. When the bell had dismissed us to go home, I checked my backpack to see if it was there and it was gone. I went back to the class to see if I had dropped it and nothing. I knew for sure it was now stolen. Today, I went back to school filed a report and talked to the principle and teacher, with both saying the same thing, its probably lost. I only bring my iPod to school to take pictures of the board and nothing else. I've had for 5 years, since September of 2011, my bday. I've changed all passwords on all social media and email address and other accounts, BUT my biggest concern are my pictures. I've had many pictures with my dog and I've been super down because my dog is like the only other thing I actually have. I was about to install findmyiphone on it when I was supposed to come home but I never did and probably wont ever. My question is can I use anything at all to at least have an idea of where it's at or the last place its been used or attempted to sign into. I used my google account and it shows my ipod, and it says that the last time I signed into it was fathers day which was me. And if I dont have anything at all, could I use itunes or anything to possibly back up my pictures? My parents both have apple devices and we share one apple account that we use to buy music. I bought music on my ipod recently and noticed that the songs were shared on my mom iphone and dads ipad. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

iPod touch, iOS 6.1.6

    lost/stolen

No app on the iOS device is required.

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod/iPhone/iPad on the iOS device in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected or cellular data is on and connected for, on a computer browser go to iCloud: Find My iPhone overview, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up or continue to show off-line.

    - You can also wipe/erase the iOS device and have the device play a sound via iCloud.

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is lost or stolen

    iCloud: Erase your device

    iCloud: Use Lost Mode

    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse. You will have to look for it.

    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the device and report to school (done) police and carrier if iPhone or cellular iPad

    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the erase (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 or later on the device. With iOS 7 or later, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

    - Apple will do nothing without a court order

If you backed up your iPod to iTunes on computer or iCloud then yo can restore another 4G or later iPod from that backup to get photos and other things back

    To restore from backup see:

Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup - Apple Support

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204184

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
