Jun 22, 2016 2:27 AM in response to Aldorama1985by Ian R. Brown,★HelpfulWhilst there are obviously large superficial changes, you will find that most of the commonly used keyboard shortcuts are still applicable.
You will have to ditch some techniques and ways of thinking but the change shouldn't be too stressful as you already know the principles of editing.
All you need is something to show you the basics and then whenever you come up against some apparently insurmountable problem, a quick question on this (or similar forums) should ensure you get a rapid response.
"Lessons for Final Cut Pro X" is one way to get up and running quickly.
It is on the App Store and can be downloaded free. There are 20 odd lessons lasting a couple of hours. You can watch nearly half of them free and if you like what you see, a payment of £7.99 will unlock the rest.
Be warned however, that the excellent tutors speak quite quickly so you will probably find that you are frequently stopping and replaying sections of the lessons!

Jun 22, 2016 2:30 AM in response to Ian R. Brownby Aldorama1985,Thanks for the pointer Ian, that is really useful. I have never used an online course other than youtube tutorials for very specific tasks. The price seems very reasonable so will set aside an evening and give it a go.

Jun 22, 2016 3:53 AM in response to Aldorama1985by Ian R. Brown,Another good course which is completely free is this http://www.izzyvideo.com/final-cut-pro-x-tutorial/
The only disadvantage is that it is based on FCP X 10.1.1 and we are now on version 10.2.3
However, most of the info is still relevant but there have been some significant changes.
The £7.99 app is using one of the most up to date versions.
