Apr 19, 2016 8:55 PM in response to Toomitoby Nomesy6,Hi guys,
I've been through a nightmare with restoring my backup - like most of you have!
I had never set a password for my backup, and I knew that I hadn't. I called apple - who told me if I didn't find the password, the data was lost forever. I've been SO upset. A friend of mine used a password cracking program that gave me the first 2 letters.... ap***.
Go figure- the password was apple.
NEVER would I use this password - so somewhere along the line there has been a problem.
Anyway, it worked and yippee I have all my data back. If all else fails, try 'apple'. I really hope this works for some of you as I know how devastating it can be.
Good luck

Jun 22, 2016 5:42 AM in response to wambuimby BikerboyLondon,Just wanted to thank Sharky 3456:
This solved it - never would have thought that it needed a completely different password from itunes / apple ID / phone unlock - but it does!!
Tried all my 'standard' ones, and it worked - thanks for the tip!
