Q: sync Apple Music via iMac to other devices

hi,  i only buy my music from iTunes store via iMac then connect the cable to my iMac to sync to my other devices,  i like to have all my music files on my iMac,  so if i activate apple music on my iMac and if i download all my apple music files on my iMac,  can i sync to my other devices by connecting the lightning cable up to my iMac or does each device work independently of each other,  meaning i would need to manually download on iMac then on iPad then on iPhone?

thanks in advance

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014), OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

    Hello alistairmck,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple support community. I've got Apple music set up across all my devices as well, and while the initial setup comes with a few questions, once you've decided on the options you want to use it's awesome. I'll do all i can to help you get it set up just the way you like.

It sounds like you want to use device syncing rather than the iCloud music library, which is absolutely an option. You just need to make sure that  you go to Settings > Music > iCloud Music Library and make sure that option is turned off on your iOS devices. Then you can sync you music directly to your devices using iTunes on your mac as you normally would.

Just as  aheads up, if you choose to turn on the iCloud music library it will remove the music from he devices and stream your music from the cloud, but you can still download songs for offline listening.
