Q: Why do I need to put in my Credit Card to verify my apple id
I rechives an email that stated my id would be suspended if I don't put in my credit card

You don't, iTunes accounts don't get 'suspended', the email isn't from Apple, it's a phishing email trying to get your account and payment details - if you still have it you could forward it to Apple : reportphishing@apple.com , and then delete it.
