Jun 24, 2016 5:41 AM in response to mbaine2by Limnos,You have never read a single optical disc since installing El Capitan, or was this just recently? Optical drives do fail so unless it is a direct tie to installing the new system I would not presume it has something to do with that. Have you tried restarting your computer?

Jun 24, 2016 5:51 AM in response to Limnosby mbaine2,Just since El Cap, have restarted computer. This when I originally installed el cap, I reverted back to Mountain Lion and it still didn't work. I bought a replacement superdrive and installed it with the same result. I put original drive back in still nothing. installed el cap again still same issue. I bought a USB superdrive, not knowing this wouldn't work on my macbook. I have a good internal superdrive and a good USB superdrive that are useless now. I am hitting a brick wall now.
