Q: Why did my iPhone 6 screen turn really bright and grey?

Yesterday my iPhone 6 screen turned really bright and a light grey colour after being in my pocket. The icons and the home screen were barely visible and so was the home screen. The sides of the screen were also flickering. After 20 minutes of leaving it and taking the case off, in case it was overheating, it went back to normal. Is this a fault with the phone or had it overheated?

    I understand your iPhone 6 screen turned bright and a light grey colour after being in your pocket. I know how important it is for your iPhone to be in working order for you. It is possible that the iPhone overheated while in your pocket. The following article has information about the acceptable temperatures for your iPhone. 

     

    Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures

     

    If the device exceeds a certain temperature threshold, it will present a temperature warning screen similar to this:

    • The device stops charging.
    • The display dims or goes black.
    • In navigation: 
         
      • The device will present this alert and turn off the display: "Temperature: iPhone needs to cool down."
       
         
      • Navigation will continue to provide audible turn-by-turn directions. When approaching a turn, the display will illuminate to guide you through the turn.
        •  
      • To return the device to normal operation, press the Home Button and slide to unlock. If the device has cooled down enough, you can continue normal usage.
    • Cellular radios will enter a low-power state. The signal may weaken during this time.
    • The camera flash is temporarily disabled.
