Q: iMessage on mac not working properly

Hello to the mac community!

I own an iPod touch and a MacBook pro with mountain lion.  iMessage on my iPod touch works perfectly (it always sends, always receive messages seamlessly, and all the messages are in chronological order within the conversation.) On my MacBook pro, it's all the contrary. Messages are sent only 50 percent of the time (I often get "failed to send" with an exclamation point and have to resend it. I may have o do this 3-3 times. Other times it may work in one try) Sometimes I receive messages on my mac after 15 minutes. Also, the messages on my mac are not in chronological order so I often have to look at my iPod to be able to read the conversation.

I checked. Both iPod and mac are on the same email address for iMessage. I do not get why it works perfectly on iPod and it kindda ***** on mac.

Anybody has this problem? Anybody knows how to fix the issue?

Cheers

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

    Hi catherinefromkillarney and Isegalla,

This Thread started in 2013 over three years ago now and started in the  Mountain Lion Area of the forums.

Are you using Mountain Lion ?

Is "having the same issues" based on the Title of the Thread or where the Thread has ended up ?

Please give as much detail as possible as to what you are experiencing.

Have you tried this?  If you don't mind entering those password again, it's the easier way to fix it.

    "Delete Keychains folder from mac"

    1. Click on "Finder".

    2. Hold the "Option" key and click on "Go" in the Menu.

    3. Find the Folder "Keychains" and drag it into the "Trash" bin.

    4. Restart Computer, and then try logging back into the iMessage app again.

    Hope that helps!
    Alex

You might want to consider starting a new discussion. Since this one is a couple of years old, less people are likely to look at it. You can link to this one.

    Hi,

I don't see the relevance of your Post.

You have linked to the Original Post (some three years ago) that was saying that the Poster had issues with iMessages not appearing in order.

Your Picture shows you changing a setting for Multiple Buddy Lists (The Account other than iMessages)

I have 9 other account logged in (also mentioned in this thread elsewhere)

I too can change the Status Messages in each Buddy List to read something different.

    Screen Shot 2016-06-25 at 20.40.34.png

Note the list of Account on the Main Window, bottom left and the Status Message is each of the three Buddy Lists I have included

Effectively you are looking at a Contextual Menu of this menu item

    Screen Shot 2016-06-25 at 20.43.14.png

Although this does not have the option to make the Statuses all appear the same or to be separate like mine.

If you turn all these Buddy Lists Accounts Off (line) (your Jabber and possible Bonjour accounts by the look of things) then the Status Menu item does nothing.

It does not effect the iMessages Account.

I know my pictures are from EL Capitan but I am not sure yours is from Mountain Lion either.  (The dates shown in the main window are from 2014 and 2015)

This is for 2016 on... At some point there must have been an update or new iPhone or whatever... idk, but check your settings on your iPhone and make sure you are signed into messages. As soon as I signed in on my phone everything started to work on my Mac.

    Hi Everybody -

I had to get a new debit card - this was the problem - make sure your payment info is up to date - update credit card and the messenger will work almost immediately -

I was also unable to delete all files from trash.  If you open trash and right click on each, you can select "delete immediately" and that worked.  Then I relaunched Messages.  So far it's working again.  Thank you for this info.
