Q: Apple Music crushing my data plan

My Apple Music keeps downloading songs, without my knowledge. especially when I sleep and for that it disconnects from the Wifi and uses my data plan! Just this night it downloaded 3,5 GB of data, completely destroyed battery! When I went to sleep I made sure it doesn't download anything and when I woken up, the uses of data was astronomical again and battery was at 10%. I am hopeless, I don't know what to do! Please help

    Hello Stepan,

Thank you for being part of the Apple Community!

It is my understanding your Apple Music is downloading songs overnight.  I completely understand wanting to make sure that nothing is downloaded to your phone without your knowledge.

The first thing I would check would be to make sure that Automatic Downloads is turned off.  That way if you download something to another device, it will not automatically download to your iPhone.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    1. Tap Settings > iTunes & App Store.
    2. If you're not already, sign in with your Apple ID.
    3. Turn on the content that you want to automatically download.

You can turn Automatic Downloads on or off over your cellular network on an iPhone or iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular. Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store and turn Use Cellular Data on or off. Cellular Data downloads are limited to a file size of 100 MB or smaller.

You can also turn off Use Cellular Data from that same location.  This will prevent the iPhone from using your Cellular Data to download music.

Thank you for using Apple Communities!
