Jun 22, 2016 1:36 PM in response to Mighty8Ballby wildestpixel,Given that I saw that the problem was calendar related I thought i would kickstart Outlook's calendar process. Basically it goes something like this :
- Open Outlook for the first time
- At the wizard, create an offline account
- Then go into Account Settings and try adding a Calendar with bogus settings, it will whinge and state that its not going to work.
- Exit Outlook
- Run The iCloud setup selecting Outlook again, bingo (at least for me) my mail was imported and away I went again
- Everything working
Hope that this may work for someone else too

Jun 23, 2016 11:55 AM in response to rs888by pbrantom,Does anyone really expect me to do that? This is 2016 not 1985.
-
Jun 23, 2016 12:03 PM in response to pbrantomby wildestpixel,There are two very valid solutions above, until you get support from Apple which technically as a Windows user you aren't really obliged to these are good to go. I have tested my method since elsewhere to successful result - its probably a lot easier than downgrading office and isn't a dirty or bodgy approach either.

Jun 23, 2016 5:18 PM in response to OkiePaynesby leighfromo'connor,After spending a few hours working on this issue both by myself (and Google) and then with Apple Support I have a working solution on both my systems. The solution does not explain what was broken or why but it works for me.
The solution was essentially:
1. Ensure that you have a functioning iCloud mail account. I did not have one enabled - just my iCloud account linked to my Apple ID that I used from my phone and iTunes - which used to work OK with Outlook/iCloud Windows.
2. Sign out of iCloud Windows.
3. Open Outlook. Add a new mail account to Outlook via the using your iCloud mail address and your normal Apple ID password. This should add via the Auto Account Setup process. File > Account Settings > Account Settings > New
4. Close Outlook once the new account is added.
5. Open iCloud Windows.
6. Sign in using your iCloud mail address and your normal Apple ID password.
7. You "should" see a new dialog at the top of the iCloud features offering to setup Outlook (sorry no screenshot). Select the link and the application starts to import your iCloud contacts, calendars etc. Once it is complete make any other changes you may want to how iCloud works, select Apply and Close.
8. Open Outlook and you should see your contacts and calendars.
This is how it worked for me (thanks to Andi from Apple Support in Singapore). It is not ideal but everything is back to how it was (except now I have one more mail account in Outlook which I will probably never use).

Jun 23, 2016 11:40 PM in response to rs888by jeandrelennox,Hi. Thank you for your answer. I tried this but it did not solve the issue in my case. -
Jun 24, 2016 2:00 PM in response to rs888by Axburgher,Thanks to Microsoft Engineer Prabhavathi Patil for this: it worked for me as well - and thanks RS888 for the clarified instructions.
I think you run the risk of going back to square one if you update to the latest Office again - if you update iCloud for example.
This leaves our friendly MS engineer to take this further with Microsoft. Accept it's not a long-term fix, but it's a start at least! Let's give them a chance to work on a fix. If and when I hear I'll post here, or just keep an eye on the MS thread mentioned above.
Good luck!

Jun 24, 2016 6:10 PM in response to Mighty8Ballby mjstls,I have the same situation too... What is weird for me is that everything was working with Outlook 2013 and this version. Then I upgraded to 2016 and it still worked as far as I could tell. Later, I had to rebuild my PC from scratch because of another issue and with a fresh Windows 10, Office 2016 and iCloud 5.2 it does not work and exhibits the same symptoms reported by everybody here. Setup hangs. This is EXTREMELY inconvenient as now my iPhone and outlook are disconnected so I have to enter contacts in two places until Apple fixes this. You'd think the apple engineers would simply test their software and acknowledge it has a problem and give us some indication of when it might be fixed...

Jun 26, 2016 11:54 PM in response to OkiePaynesby Sherbrook3608,Hi Okie.
Thanks for your post, I have this problem as well, and have wasted many hours trying to resolve matters, I have tried all of the options suggested in the Apple support to no avail.
In the end I removed Office 2016 and installed Office 2013, which works OK, however its a bit of a bind as all of my outlook settings from 2016 were lost.
I hope Apple sorts this out soon, so I can reinstall Office 2016.
Regards
Tony in London.
