Q: iPhone 5S - reset

I bought my iPhone 5S in February 2013 and have been using it since.

As I would like to give this iPhone to my Husband, as I now have purchased a new one, I followed the following steps:

1. Restored a version of his "Broken" iPhone onto my one, but all my information was still on this phone.

2. Tried to reset the iPhone, and start a clean "Restore"

3. The reset worked, now the iPhone will not activate, even if I enter my Apple ID

4. I am not able to activate it - It keeps telling me that Apple ID cannot be used to unlock this device

5. I have gone to my iCloud account and removed the device from there.

I am now attempting an iPhone recovery, My mac book is "Downloading software for the iPhone" (From iTunes)

(The download is taking a long time, and my iPhone keeps restarting)

Please help, is there anything else I can try?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

But it's looking for some email address that starts with a "K" to unlock.  This was the original email address used to set it up.

Were you the original owner of the iPhone 5S?  Can you contact the original owner if you are not that person?

Apparently it's not the ID used to activate this phone. Try  recovering it using this:  Forgot your Apple ID

    I would like to add,

I have had the iPhone in for repairs, about a year ago, but I have verified the serial number on my packaging is the same as the one on the iPhone.

    If anyone could help....

    Thank-you

You had your iPhone repaired where - at an Apple Store or authorized Apple Service Center? They should be able to assist.

I sent it to South Africa, as at that time there was no iSore here in Namibia.  I shall be taking it in to our iStore today.  (A baby iStore open for a few months)

I shall though post the outcome, here when I receive an answer, regardless what that may be.

Once again thank-you so much for your input.

Yes I did note that "K" but I have no apple ID with a "K" in first letter, I even searched all my archived messages, and there is no such eMail address - K......@gmail.com anywhere to be found, not even for received mails.  Yes I was the first owner of this phone, or at least that is what I believed.... Bought from my local service provider, with Contract.  No the phone was never SIM locked, as I have often used alternate SIM cards. (Im a pilot and use SIM cards across border)

I have tried that, but my name is not connected to any other ID, that I know of - I shall do some further research though, my memory may well be "Challenged".

Thank-you, even though I had noticed the K...  I never gave it much thought.  I created a new iCloud account for our K...Neighbourhood Watch, to share the calendars with all committee members - so we are able to follow the patrols electronically.  This ID I created about 4 months ago, I did not set up my iPhone with it, so I am a tad confused, why my iPhone was attached to this account.  But once I entered this ID and password - bingo - I could set up the iPhone clean for my husband.  Once again thank-you for the patience and support,  Still Confuse, but happy.

    Glad it's working!

You "created a new iCloud account".  So that account likely has an email address of the form "xyz@icloud.com".  Yet the Apple ID associated with the account is very different - "k...@gmail.com."

Maybe that helps explain some of the confusion.

Anyway, all is well.  Enjoy your Apple gear.
