Q: Disable swipe to delete/archive in El Capitan Mail?

I've just installed El Capitan and the new "feature" of swiping to delete/archive in Mail really annoys me. It doesn't go very well with the Apple mouse. I'd like to disable it. How can I do that? I guess there's some kind of Terminal command to do it.

And please don't answer that the feature is actually good and that I just don't understand it. That was not my question.

I finally disabled "Tap to Click" and changed the trackpad tap sensitivity to "Light" and while this solved the problem, it's not the actual fix, which Apple needs to address. Now I have to actual push on the trackpad for any actions, and like others, I want to just touch it. Anyway, for now this is working.

I'm honestly surprised the interface folks added a feature but no way to control it. Please add a checkbox to disable swiping.

I will add my voice to the growing tide - the swipe feature in El Capitan Mail is very annoying and not having an 'off' switch for it is not just user-unfriendly it's user-screw-you. PLEASE!!!!! For the love of God, Jesus and all that's HOLY - LET US TURN THIS OFF! Oh - and STOP with the 'use the classic layout' - I prefer the NEW layout thank you very much. That's not a solution, that's a dodge and ANYTHING BUT 'user service'. Apple, you used to be better than this. Try to be 'insanely great' again. I miss that.

I really hope everyone goes to http://www.apple.com/feedback/ to complain about this. Apple doesn't read anything in the discussion groups, but if they see a few hundred common complaints about something from this page they just "might" fix the problem.

Right after I finish vomiting blood over how much I truly hate this feature I'm going to Apple's feedback site to complain.

I've just replaced my Magic Mouse (worn out) with a Magic Mouse 2. Guess what? MagicPrefs won't recognise it. So I'm back to square one. I wonder if I have to fill in yet another bug report, but that will probably be just as useless as the first ones.

There is a Mail.app plugin (sources available too) to disable swipe to delete:

I have discovered that if you place two fingers on the mouse as you click on the email then no sideswiping activity can take place, which then does away with any false clicks. Agreed though, it is a pain, but this 'solution' alleviates the annoyance. After you have done this a few times it becomes quite natural.

I've use Better Touch Tool and, before that, MagicPrefs for years and with no issues. If a third party extension causes problems with your OS surely there is a simple solution - uninstall it. The great advantage of modern operating systems is their flexibility, extendibility and customisability. In this case the only reason people wish to change the native behaviour of the OS is that it is flawed and causes problems, so things are already 'going wrong'.
