Q: Adjust volume in the middle of an audio or clip

I have been using iMovie since years occasionally . Been pleased with the possibilities to make movies rather easy and still be able to adjust things flexibly . With the 10.1.2 version i now have I don't find a way to adjust the volume in the middle of a clip or and audio file. Getting a bit upset with looking for this feature that was easily found in the some of the previous versions. Have Apple taken this possibility out and left if for FinalCut ?? Did I miss something ??

You missed something. Maybe post a screenshot of your timeline so we can see what you're seeing.

That's how it looks basically. In the past you could put two markers on the audio file and in between these two smooth down or up the volume until the next two markers

Adjusting and mixing audio are basic functions and necessary operations in FCPX. see the FCPX help system:

Adjust volume
You can adjust the volume levels of audio clips from the Browser, the Timeline, the Audio inspector, or the Modify menu. Volume adjustments you make in the Audio inspector or from the Modify menu are applied to the entire selection. To make more precise adjustments, you can create keyframes in the clip, and then make adjustments to points between keyframes. See Adjust audio effects using keyframes.
You can make sure the volume doesn’t exceed peak levels, which may result in audible distortion, by using the Audio meters.

That's iMovie. This is the Final Cut Pro X forum. Are you asking about FCPX or about iMovie?

Hold the Option key to click and add a keyframe to the volume line.
