If the photos look ok on the iPad, this is a printer issue, not an iPad. I would contact the printer manufacturer or get the printer replaced if it is new. Not much else you can do from the iPad's end, sorry.

This is happening to me also on my iPhone 6. Doesn't matter if I use my Canon color inkjet or my Brother Laser printer.  Printed photos come out much darker that what shows on the iPhone.

Printing pictures from your computer or mobile device can be daunting and tricky to accomplish.

You can't just take/snap a digital image from a digital camera and have it, instantly, look great when you decide to try and print it out to your home printer.

This will never happen because your screen always shows images brighter than they will actually print.

What you see on ANY computer or mobile device screen is not what will print out.

This is because of different factors.

Computer/mobile screen use RGB (Red, Green, Blue) color pixels to DISPLAY an image, while your printer uses another print color scheme called CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, BlacK) to print out an approximation of what is being displayed on any computing device's screen.

These two color schemes are incompatible and you may need to futher edit photos either on your mobile device, using the built in image editing capabilities within the Photos app, or another third party iOS image editing app OR  transfer all of your images to a computer using iTunes or the Photos/iPhoto app or other method to import images from your mobile device into your computer and use another image editor on your computer, to further edit images to print out a result that is much closer to what you see on your computer or devices' screen.

Image editing for printing out images is always going to be necessary.

Another factor is the paper you print on.

If the paper you are using with the printer is just plain, non-coated paper or paper that has a rougher feeling texture ot "tooth", then more ink gets absorbed into the paper making the final printed images darker.

If you are using a specialty printer paper that has some level or thickness of coating (matte or semi-matte, gloss or semi-gloss coating) then your images will print lighter becuase the paper coating prevents the ink from the printer from being fully absorbed into the paper fibers by sitting and drying more on the top surface of the paper.

You may want to do more online research on how to edit images on your computer or mobile device  to print out to your local home printer

Good Luck getting great looking prints from your iPad or computer!

Have since changed my printer to one that prints Airdrop from my iPad. photos so much improved. Also regarding photo paper, I always use Matte. the only

trouble is, its a job to tell which side is matte and which side isnt. could have been my problem in the first place. But really appreciate your replying to my problem.

    Thanks. E.B.
