Q: Workflow with DXO Optics pro 11and Aperture 3.6

Good morning everyone. I work with Aperture 3.6. Recently I have installed DXO Optics pro 11 as a trial version. When I try to load a photo to DXO through Aperture (I have configured DXO as an external editor) most of the times the following message is displayed: Loading error, In Block Prepare [m_identifier=Blur], In Block Prepare, In Block Prepare [ scale=0 Get Correction().Identifier()=Blur ], In Block Prepare, In block Prepare [ m_isRawimage=false ], Exception caught in delta standard deviation function.

I have contacted DXO support, who confirmed that the only reliable way to use DXO is to import a photo directly to DXO, edit it and then export it to Aperture. Any other suggestions please?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

Suggestion - follow the advice you got from DXO support

It sounds like a photos manager like Aperture and as such you can not share photos between the two databases except by  exporting from one and importing into the other - you can not use a Photos Manage as an external editor

I cannot use any of the DXO  applications as an external editor from Aperture. I tried with DxO OpticsPro for DxO ONE,  and DXO Perspective. The editor window does not even open.

Affinity Photos does not work either. Affinity launches, but it is not possible to save the results back to Aperture.

Are you using RAW? That's the best way to use DxO Optics Pro. Aperture doesn't pass RAW to it, so just design a workflow so that you go to the photo and then directly opne it in DxO, and then save back to the same place as the original and import into Aperture (or maybe an auto import folder if you use a managed library). DxO can save adjustments to DNGs so you can get RAW back for further edits, but IIRC that won't work with Aperture, since Aperture can't handle linear DNGs like some other applications. Note that DxO can save info in sidecars, so make sure they stay with the adjusted images.

Many thanks for your answer. This is the wright workflow, as proposed by DXO helpline. I tried to do it through Aperture (using it as an external editor-the easy way!!), but it does not work most of the times (even if I use RAW).

    All the best
