Q: Issues with Sliverlight

Over the last 2/3 days I have noticed that I have been unable to watch anything on Netflix, NowTV or SkyGo. The Netflix page doesn't even load, I just get connecting but the page doesn't load up, NowTV and Sky Go load up at first but then as soon as I go to the sign in page, I just get connecting and nothing loads up there either.

At first I thought it may have been an issue with my firefox browser, so I tried on Safari but was having the same issues. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and updated Flash and Sliverlight but nothing seems to solve the problem. I am also running the latest version of El Captin on my MacBook Air so I'm not sure what else I can do.

Any help would be much appreciated, as I am paying for things I can't seem to get access to.

    Hello LiveLaughLove91x,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

From your post, I understand that you are not able to watch anything on Netflix, NowTV, or SkyGo as the webpage just says connecting. I know how much I like to watch my shows on those sites, too! For Safari, I recommend the steps in the following article:

If Safari doesn‘t load a page or webpage items are missing

If Safari doesn't load pages from multiple sites

In OS X Yosemite, you can delete website data for the past hour, or past few days if websites or pages stopped loading recently.

    1. Choose History > Clear History and Website Data.
    2. In the sheet that appears, choose the range of data you want to remove from the Clear pop-up menu.
    3. Click Clear History.
remove history, cookies, cache, website data

If you want to remove website data for all of the sites and pages you've ever visited, choose "all history" from the Clear pop-up menu. The option to Remove All Website Data in the Privacy pane of Safari preferences does this, too. These options also reset your browsing history and Top Sites.

    Best regards.

Thank you for your quick reply, I have followed your institutions, but unfortunately I'm still having the same issues. I have tired everything I can think of from updating to uninstalling or trying different browsers but nothing seems to solve it. I am wondering now whether it may just be best for me to book an appointment with my local genius bar and let them have a look at it. It just really confuses me because everything else works perfectly, it just seems to be streaming websites that I'm having issues with.

    You're welcome, LiveLaughLove91x.

The next steps I would recommend would be to test the issue while in Safe Mode and/or in another User account on your Mac. These articles have the steps for both procedures:

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn‘t finish starting up

Follow these steps to start up into safe mode.

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key.
    3. Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo appear on the screen.

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

    Create a test user account

    1. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
    2. Click the Users & Groups icon in the System Preferences window.
    3. Click the lock icon, then enter an administrator name and password.
    4. Click the Add button (+) below the list of users.
    5. Choose a type of user from the New Account pop-up menu.
    6. Give the user a full name, account name, and password.
    7. Click OK.
    8. Close the System Preferences window.

Log out of your current user account by choosing Log Out from the Apple menu, then log in to the new account you created. If you're prompted to sign in with your iCloud account or Apple ID when you log in, skip this step.

    Cheers.
