All of these posters chose to buy a tablet that does not provide what they want?

LOL!, yeah. When you put it that way, it is kind of silly isn't it. :P

Well when you say it that way I feel really selfish.  NOT.

I'm surprised I'm getting any sort of reaction at all.  This has really raised quite a little firestorm.  Why in the world would anyone care if a pointer appeared on a screen if I allowed it to in settings?  Who would be harmed by it?

This very thoughtful little enhancement (which admittedly will NOT drive behavior for ALL ipad users since we all know that market research says we won't use it and who cares if it did catch on?) would appeal to some people is my point (most probably to those who think the ipad PRO should go as far as it can to approximate a laptop where it's easily done).  Use it or don't, ship it with the default on off.  Many people would appreciate it.  You have the Surface sales to prove that point.  Being loyal to Apple means I want them to relentlessly improve.  I think there are plenty who think as I do about this minor feature.

I'm backing out now....slowly....carefully...with my back to the door....and......I'm out!!!!  LOL.

I'm assuming Apple put the Bold icon there for a reason.  I used it for emphasis only; as if we were having a cordial discussion.

Go and buy something that does what you want, spend your money and your time wisely.

Boy, you are new here   This thread is nothing compared to some in past years.

And you are entirely entitled to your opinion and to suggest it to Apple at the feedback web site.  None of us know what Apple may, or may not, be cooking up for future hardware and software.

If what Apple offers currently doesn't work for somebody, then there are other options (and thank goodness for choices in consumer electronics - how boring would things be without them?).

Well, nobody is saying the iPad Pro should not have mouse, or must never ever have mouse.   All anyone is saying is it doesn't have one, and will likely not have one.   If Apple does include one in the future, then fine its there and you can use it.   Currently it does not have one, and no real marketable reason to go to the trouble of redesigning the interface to have one.   If you need one, there are options out there that can fulfill that. The iPad currently is not one of them.

I for one feel that since they are trying to sell the iPad Pro (specifically the 12") as a laptop replacement it has to support a mouse.  For me I would gladly stop carrying my laptop if it had a mouse as it would be a pleasure to work on for a few hours away from my desk.  But without a mouse I can't, just not convenient or as efficient.  This isn't about using Facebook or something but using the iPad with a VDI solution to replace a laptop.

That is your interpretation and takeaway from the marketing material. I don't see this statement anywhere in the iPad material.

    "laptop replacement"

IMO, if you can't view these blurbs and clearly see there is no mouse needed (in Apple's opinion) to do these things, you are reading between the lines to reach your negative POV. They're using pictograms to make it easy to grasp. No MOUSE required to "do these things" This is about moving on from a laptop, NOT replacing one feature-for-feature with a tablet.

This whole thread is like a bacon lover commenting... "Once they put some salt and nitrates into that tofu-bacon, I'll have it at breakfast."

It's a different product with a unique but similar or even superior workflow producing similar or even superior results.

You are certainly free to feel whatever you like. And, Apple is free to sell whatever they see fit. No one here can change either your feelings or Apple's decisions.

Submit your feedback to Apple here suggesting they do something different:

    http://www.apple.com/feedback

I think LACAllen pretty well covered the reasons why your feelings are simply your opinions and not, in fact, Apple's marketing strategy.

    I totally disagree

Here is apples new ad for the iPad pro.  I know this has been beaten to death but certainly looks like they are saying 'iPad pro' can replace your laptop.

But what they are not saying is that it supports a mouse.
