Q: Can I put music on my iphone even though i have apple music?

I have a couple mixtapes I would like to put on a playlist on my iphone. I have Apple Music and it doesnt let me create playlists in iTunes when i connect my phone. Am I able to put music on the phone that isn't available on itunes?

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 9.3.2

    Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. From your post, I see that you'd like to know if you can add music you've imported into iTunes to your iPhone while using Apple Music. I have a lot of my own music that isn't available in Apple Music, and I like to have it on my phone as well. I'm happy to help!
