Q: Break old Ipod/PC Sync

I have an old Ipod. About 8 years old and still works great.

Here is my problem. I cannot sync anything from it to my new PC. The old laptop that it used to be synced to fried up about 6 years ago. I have been okay since then until now. I have new music I want to put on there. However all my songs were ripped from my physical CD's and while I still have those disks, I don't want to have to spend days re-ripping the music. The PC and ALL the backup's for those songs have been wiped out over the past 6 years. Usually from just simply failing, such as the External Drives.

I have managed to Copy the songs off the ipod, but still does not solve my inability to sync to the new PC.

People speak of having a warning prompt of syncing the ipod to a new pc, but I never got that prompt. The is no "Manual management of songs" option either. I am at a loss at this point.

Hi there Raistrev,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like you aren't able to sync music to your iPod from iTunes on your PC, and you believe this related to warning prompts that aren't being displayed. Try resetting all dialog warnings from the advanced preferences in iTunes as described in the article below.

iTunes 12 for Windows: iTunes Advanced preferences

Reset all dialog warnings

If you selected “Do not show this message again” in one or more dialogs (small windows with messages in them), clicking “Reset warnings” makes the messages appear again, as if you’d just opened iTunes for the first time.

Then try to sync the music to your iPod as outlined here:

hello! if you have a friend who has an mac or windows running itunes 10.6.1 you can sync your ipod!

See Recover media from an iPod just in case the scripts for recovering ratings, play counts, and playlists, and the backup advice, are useful to you.

Once everything has been extracted that you want you can select what content you would like to sync to the device and try to sync it. At this point you are likely to get an erase and sync warning. If not you could restore the device.
