Q: OS X El Capitan:  Parental Controls NOT working

Using a managed account, and selecting "only allow these websites", when managed/ or Admin user logs out and then back in and parental controls are opened by ADMIN account, "try to limit access to adult websites" is selected.  MBP restarted, ADMIN goes back into managed account and selects only allow...and same thing happens....also if I enter specific websites that are NOT to be accessed at all under "Custom" these websites disappear next logging from ADMIN or Managed account.....Parental Controls worked fine with Yosemite....Can anyone help?

    Apple, FIX THIS!!!

When Parental Controls used to work, I was so glad to be using OS X and Macs. I have been a faithful Apple owner and user since 1983. I have stuck by you through thick and thin. And, there have been thin times...

Restore my faith in you. FIX THIS!!!

    Thanks.

Did you all try the delete the user and recreate it fix that I posted above? It 100% solved the parental control problem for me. Details are a page back.

Deleting the user doesn't work. If it worked for you, you didn't have this problem. Even a full reload and reformat doesn't work. So any other fix is useless unless it comes from the fruit gods.

More than half a year later, and the issues with Parental Controls still haven't been resolved yet. So disappointed.

Yup, we've learned to go without.  Hopefully it comes back.  Though with El Capitan's security features protecting system files I am not as worried as I would be with snow leopard etc.

I just watch the internet history and user files like a hawk.

I know it's easy to bypass gatekeeper, but atleast they can't do anything nasty with terminal.

I have this same exact problem.  I have spent 3-4 hours working on this with apple support.  They continue to tell me that parental controls work fine on El Capitan and they are confused as to why parental controls do not work on my computer.

I have sent them this thread on discussions.apple.com to read and their answer is that they have millions of users, and if parental controls were truly broken, then they would know about it.

Not a great argument from Apple.  I'd be surprised if a majority of users knew you could create multiple accounts on one machine let alone know about parental controls.  They can easily do a screen share and see it not working for themselves.

IF you have OS X server you can set up profile manager and push simple finder, app restriction and website restriction to the computers you want to manage.

    Tested it, works fine.

I found these rather suspicious looking errors in the system log. They appear whenever I try to make any changes to parental controls (in this case it was changing the allowed apps). This may not be a problem with parental controls per se, but rather with some missing code signing keys in the key chain.

Glad they finally fixed it (I hope) before I threw the MacBook out the window and replaced it with a Windoze laptop!  :-)

I was not so fortunate.  I purchased 2 macbook airs, both did same.  my son was going away for summer and i wanted to have p controls in effect.  i began in january.  literally over 100+ hours with apple support, engineering, etc.  never functional.  third party software ineffective as well.  after all that had to do clean installs on all machines.  went to apple store for help on back to mac after that.  began talking about p controls and was not taken seriously.  they attempted to set it up, same thing.  they then got their own machine to "see for themselves"- SAME THINGS!!! I wonder if the update works.....

cant believe i am actually seeing this.  had to send son with no p controls in place after 6 months and 3 new computers.  i know you have been on this one a long time--any word on if this actually fixes it?
