Q: screen is black and plugging in to recharge does not work

The screen was blinking and then went black.  I tried the hard reset, nothing.  I tried to charge it, nothing.  It was fully charged when this happened.  No apple logo, just a black screen.  I read that tapping it on the back might help. It did not.
