    Hi

When recording workouts via the Workout app using Other as the activity type, active calories are estimated at a rate equivalent to a brisk walk or based on data recorded by the heart rate sensor, whichever is higher.

The following steps may help to improve the accuracy of estimations made by your watch:

    • Estimations for calories and other results depend, in part, on your personal information. To check that this is accurate:
      • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Health > Edit (upper-right).

    • During workouts, for the best performance from the heart rate sensor (data from which is used when estimating calories), ensure that you wear your watch snugly on the top of your wrist. Apple suggests that you consider tightening the band before starting a workout and loosening it again afterwards.
      • Note that the heart rate sensor is likely to give better results for workouts that involve rhythmic (eg running) rather than irregular movements.

    • Calibrating your watch can improve the accuracy of various activity-related estimations including calorie estimations. To calibrate your watch, follow the instructions in the support article linked below. You may wish to reset your calibration data and start the process afresh:
      • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Privacy > Motion & Fitness > tap on Reset Calibration Data.

Thanks for your reply. So I regularly do Yoga which may be equivalent of brisk walk, But brisk walk at what speed? and Can I control the speed of brisk walk by which it calculates the calories?

As you said that Heart sensor provides better results on rhythmic work outs but you see Yoga is quite the contrary a very irregular heart rate producing exercise. So I think a controlled brisk walk speed would give a better result in case of Yoga.

Let me know what do you think.

    Thank You

The definition of a brisk walk varies from person to person, depending on their personal information.

It is not presently possible to manually adjust the rate at which active calories are credited via the Other workout activity type.

If you would like to suggest that Apple considers adding that option to the Workout app (and/or any other new features - such as adding Yoga as an activity type, with estimations automatically tailored to match), you can do so here:
