Q: Bell Icon

A bell keeps on appearing and disappearing on my wife's mini IPad III.

How can I stop this from happening  .  .  .  it's distracting.

Does she have system sounds muted? This explains how the side switch works on many models of iPads, and it also talks about muting system sounds.

Can you elaborate a little? When does she see this bell icon? Does she hear sounds for the keyboard clicks or app notifications?

If the device is in a case, remove it and see if the bell icon still keeps popping up. It could be that one of the volume up/down buttons are being pressed too much by the case either due to poor fit or tolerance or maybe some dust buildup (or similar).

While it's out of the case, test the device buttons and see if either one is overly sensitive to being pressed/triggered.

    Hello Demo

The bell icon appears (and disappears) sporadically without any obvious cause and there is no sound or click

It's random and it's not the case causing the problem. Now we start trouble shooting, simple first.

Start with reset. Press and hold both the home and power buttons until the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Wait until your iPad starts on it's own.

If that doesn't work try settings > general > reset > reset all settings. Make sure you have your wifi password first, you're going to have to re-enter it.

Next you'll have to Restore your iPad. If you've never Restored your iPad please wait for Demo or SergZak to wake up to help you with the process.

Just a thought. Can you remember when the sound icon stated appearing ? If it was immediately after an update or installing an app that's usually the problem.

What I am asking is this. Can you hear keyboard clicks when typing emails or documents? Do you hear email sound notifications when you send or receive an email? Have you tried Bob's suggestions? Any luck with those?
