Q: Macbook won't sync contacts with iPhone.

Hi,

I have a problem with my MacBook, there is no way I can sync contacts between my Mac and iPhone over iCloud. On both devices I have contacts syncing turned on and the only contact that is on my Mac is mine, it even updates all the changes I make, e.g. my email address, etc. Moreover, when I type a phone number in Messages, some of my contacts names popup in the recipient suggestion box. However, the messages boxes have bare numbers without any name after sending. How can I fix this?

I have one more issue. I occasionally get the popup windows with those ads that are difficult to close and there's a text in the window and a 'OK' button. Sometimes I click the 'OK' button in order to close them as I forget to force-quit Safari. Nothing downloads afterwards but I heard that there's a threat of a hack or a that a hacker could control my Mac, if I click on such button. Is that true or I shouldn't worry unless I install something from those popups?

Thank you in advance !

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.

I had read and followed the steps from the article about iCloud you mention, before I wrote this post. I have also logged in and out multiple times from iCloud both on my iPhone and MacBook, but the issue persists. If I sync my contacts through iTunes, would the synced contacts be updated automatically later on over iCloud?

About the pop-up ads. I know that since ElCaptain any malware is deleted by the system but will something worse happen to my Mac, if I clicked the 'OK' button?

    Cheers.

For the popups, run EtreCheck to get a general diagnostic of the Mac, it can also tackle a good bit of popup malware. Then for good measure use MalwareBytes to ensure cleanliness. Both are highly regarded in the community and are developed by fellow longstanding members.
