Q: Upgrade to Windows 10

Hi

I'm trying to upgrade Windows 7 service pack 1 (64 Bit) to Windows 10, running in Bootcamp 5 on my Mac Mini (late 2014), with OSX 10.10.5.

I have updated OSX to where I have a message that no updates are available in the App Store, I've also run Apple Software Updater in Windows 7 till there are no updates available.

When I run the Windows 10 upgrader, I get a message that the update can proceed because 'Intel(R) Iris(TM) Graphics 5100, this device is not supported'.

I downloaded and ran Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5769 from the Apple Support Site in Windows 7, and now Apple Software Update installs version 2.2.150, checks and wants to install 2.2.150 again. I've downloaded the the update using 'Tools' and run it locally, but that's not helped.

I've also run Brigadier using the .exe file, it runs and downloads data into a folder it creates, says it has downloaded it's stuff, but the folder is empty.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hopefully this gives you the info you asked for:

Re the drivers, I have already installed them and the app installed is looking for an attached printer, which is not the case in my situation. I Have tried using the Control Panel add new printer and specifying the ip address which works until I need to load the driver which is not installed or available from the windows search option.

Is there a way I can get the driver installed by the Epson installer to show up in the add printer menu? Or a generic driver I can use?

I posted a link for the SX415 Windows driver on the previous page. Does that not work?  Please also see http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php for drivers. These are for MAC OSX.

The link was for the same download to install 'Epson scan', which requires the printer to be attached via a USB port.

I had the printer working in W7 using bonjour, and the printer works from the Mac no problem. The problem's getting W10 to see the driver, other than through 'Epson scan'.

Is the network controller nothing to worry about? I can connect to my MBP from W10 over ethernet and connect to the internet.

Maybe it's time to buy a new wireless printer?

Can you check Broadcom support website for drivers for W10 for your specific chipset?

I recommend an ethernet-attached network printer.
