Q: Unsupported Image Format - Aperture

I just uploaded RAW images with a new camera for the first time in Aperture and they all show as unsupported image format. I've tried rebooting and reprocessing originals and this has not worked. Help please.

If anyone is able to help me out with this further issue I referenced above (and copied below), I would greatly appreciate it. I've lost my entire aperture library.

So my library was giving me error messages and prompted me to repair. I followed the instructions as prompted and when Aperture opened all my images were gone.  Nothing in there at all.  Help please.

But have you checked if Aperture has opened your main Aperture Library or a different, new library?

The Aperture > Preferences > General pane is showing you the path to the library that is currently open.  Click the "Reveal" button. Did Aperture open the correct library?

Look at the size of your Aperture lIbrary. Is it still large enough to be holding all your photos?

If yes, and your Aperture Library is still large, but no photos are visible, did Aperture collect all your photos in a "Recovered" album/folder/project? Or are there no library items at all?

If your library is still large, but all photos appear to be hidden, make a backup of your library and try to rebuild it.  But do not overwrite any older backup you still have.    Aperture 3 User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library

Thanks Leonie.  I was able to see where my library was and it was now somehow stored outside of aperture.  I managed to bring it back in and repair it (thank you!) but it's still not quite right.    It's "Aperture Library 2" now and my iCloud option is now grayed out.  Any thoughts?

Is it greyed out in the Aperture > Preferences > iCloud?  Only one library can be used with iCloud  and My Photo Stream. Is your Aperture Library 2 on an external drive? Then check, if the drive can be used withAperture and iCloud Photo Library. Is it directly connected and formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled)?

It just wasn't checked in preferences.  Seems to be good now. that I've checked it.  Thank you so much Leonie!  You really know your stuff - I can't tell you how much I appreciate your advice

I am replying because I have a connected, but somewhat different problem with Aperture suddenly showing "unsupported file format".  I have a macbook (El Capitan) and an iMac (Yosemite still, and Aperture on both.  I have been able to export and import projects as libraries back and forth with no problem until this week.  I exported a project from the macbook (El Capitan) to the iMac (Yosemite) and in the importerd library in the iMac, all photos taken with a Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS50 showed proper previews until I clicked on them, and then they turned to unsupported file format.  Not so with shots taken with a Canon 60d.  Fortunately, I still could download the original photos from the Panasonic.  I think it is a new conflict between how El Capitan treats Aperture and how Yosemite does.  Anyone have any thoughts?  Thanks!
