Q: iphoto splits into both months and dates - but different pictures. How to organize it?

My iphoto splits my photos into both months and dates (under events), and these are separate photos.  For example, I have an October 2015 folder, along with an October 4th folder, October 10th, etc. Specific dates where I took pictures. These pictures are different. So I have one picture from October 4th in the October 2015 folder. The rest of the October 4th pictures are in the October 4th folder.  It's very annoying because when I want to upload pictures to facebook, first of all it takes forever to load because of the vast number of folders under media - photos. Secondly, because my pictures from one event or day are scattered among  both month and date folders.

How do I make it so that my pictures are only in months or only under dates?

Please and thank you ^^

You can drag and drop photos from Event to Event as you please.

Or even use Smart Albums based on date

Or simply use search box in the Attach Dialogue to find all your October Photos

Are you using My Photo Stream to sync photos between devices?

My Photo stream creates an event for each month.

The daily events will be created according to your iPhoto Preferences for "Autosplit into events".  You can change this to longer intervals in "Photos > Preferences > General"

And as TD pointed out, you can merge your events as you please to make them more manageable.

Select two or more events at the same time and use the command "Events > Merge events".

It will help if you give us details and accurate information

you state you have OS X 10.8.5 - Is that correct? What version of iPhoto?

What is the source of these photos? how ar eyou importing them?

And in Photos folders do not contain Photos - folders only contain albums or other folders - I'm guessing you are calling events folder - are these events you are talking about?

If it is events and if you are using PhotoStream then you have at least one event per import from each device you import from (the number of events will be controlled by your preference settings) and if you are using Photo Stream y=those photos will be stored in an event for each month which would explain your confusion - but withou details we can only make guesses
