Q: Use iMac 5k with Macbook air as second display
Hi,
I have just purchased a new 27" 5k iMac and I want to know if i can use my Macbook Air as a second display and if so what cable do i need? Ive read some stuff that claims the 5k can't be used with a second monitor but this looks like it might just mean the iMac can't be used as a second monitor?

You are correct that a 5k iMac cannot be used as a target display, but neither can a MacBook Air Use your iMac as a display with Target Display Mode - Apple Support
Neither has any video in capability.
